讲座摘要:
Metacognition, the awareness and regulation of one’s own learning process, is a cornerstone of effective language teaching and learning. This talk offers a comprehensive guide to incorporating metacognitive strategies into the teaching of reading, writing, vocabulary, and listening. This talk stands as a bridge between theoretical frameworks and actionable teaching practices, enabling educators to enhance their students’ language proficiency in a holistic manner. In the realm of reading, this talk elucidates how metacognitive strategies such as self-questioning, summarizing, and inferencing can improve comprehension and analytical skills. The writing section delves into the processes of planning, monitoring, and evalsuating one’s own written work, which are essential for developing coherence and style in writing. For vocabulary acquisition, the talk highlights the role of metacognitive strategies in word learning, retention and usage, offering techniques for self-testing and spaced repetition that can be seamlessly integrated into classroom activities. Listening skills are addressed through strategies that teach students to anticipate content, monitor comprehension in real-time, and reflect on listening experiences to improve understanding. Each section combines research findings with practical exercises, ensuring that teachers have a clear roadmap for implementing these strategies. This talk is replete with case studies, examples from diverse learning contexts, and evidence-based practices. This talk empowers an awareness of conducting research in this domain.
